The origins of Kuozui Motors date back to the 1960s, an era when the automotive industry was considered the driving force of industrial development. At that time, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense partnered with General Motors (GM) to establish Hua Tong Automotive Corp., the predecessor of Kuozui Motors. In 1983, General Motors withdrew its investment from Hua Tong Automotive Corp. Shortly after, in early 1984, Hotai Motor, China Development Financial Holding Co., Ltd., and Hino Motors jointly established Kuozui Motors. Through perseverance and strategic growth, Kuozui Motors secured a solid position in the heavy-duty vehicle market. Recognizing the limited scale of the heavy vehicle sector and the rapid expansion of the passenger vehicle market amid Taiwan’s booming economy, Toyota Motor Corporation officially became a shareholder of Kuozui Motors in 1988. This pivotal move led to the expansion of Kuozui's operations into commercial and passenger vehicle production. Today, Kuozui Motors operates two manufacturing plants: the Zhongli Plant and Guanyin Plant. The Zhongli Plant covers an area of 230,000 sqm, while the Guanyin Plant spans 336,000 sqm.
